Wooden pallet compliance (ISPM-15)

Wooden pallet compliance (ISPM-15)

If you are using wooden pallets, they must be ISPM-15 compliant. ISPM-15 is an international standard that requires wooden packaging materials used in international trade to be heat-treated and stamped with a recognised mark. This is a customs requirement in most countries and non-compliant wooden pallets may be held or rejected at the border.

What ISPM-15 compliance means in practice:

  • Your wooden pallet must have been heat-treated by an approved provider

  • The pallet must carry the ISPM-15 stamp or mark

  • Untreated wooden pallets will not be accepted for international air freight

If you are unsure whether your pallets are ISPM-15 compliant, check with your pallet supplier before booking.

Plastic and metal pallets are generally exempt from this requirement.
